Abstract

The relationship between Christianity and the word Hallelujah is often misunderstood in its application. This problem can be found in analyzing Psalm 150:1-6 regarding the Hebrew word “הַלְלוּיָה” (hallûyāh) which is defined; “Praise,” which is then explained as the verb phrase “Praise” to God. The exegetical analysis of the word “Hallelujah” in Psalm 150:1-6 is very important to investigate. The exegetical study of “Hallelujah” in Psalm 150:1-6 will provide the meaning of the word according to the context and purpose of the psalmist himself. So that in its application both in the Old and New Testaments it becomes harmonious, as is the purpose of writing this article. The use of hermeneutics in the form of a poetry genre, through a qualitative method used to analyze the meaning of the Hebrew word "הַלְלוּיָה" (hallûyāh) in Psalm 150:1-6 which will be studied in the writing and research of this article. Hallelujah written in Psalm 150:1-6 will explain a meaning that influences every human being, who interprets the meaning of the word "הַלְלוּיָה" (hallûyāh) to God, in order to give Him noble honor. Because He is the LORD who made all things in this universe, both in Heaven and on Earth.
