This study examines the divinity of Jesus Christ based on His statement in John 8:58, "Before Abraham was, I am," which is central to Christian faith and has often been rejected by various religious groups and heretics in church history. The purpose of the study is to analyze the theological meaning of Jesus' statement and its implications for the doctrine of the Trinity and the divine nature of Christ, using an expository and biblical theology approach. The method used is qualitative literature, including analysis of biblical texts, historical studies, and exegesis, and follows the Miles and Huberman model for data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the expression *ego eimi* (I am) in John 8:58 affirms the eternal existence of Jesus as God, equal to YHWH in the Old Testament, while also being an affirmation of His divine identity that provoked a strong reaction from Jewish leaders. These findings strengthen the understanding of the Christology of the Gospel of John about Jesus as God incarnate as a human being.
